To get started, gather your ingredients. You will need:
- 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Now that you have everything ready to go, let's get cooking!
Step 1: Turn on your Instant Pot and select the sauté function. Add a tablespoon of oil to the pot.
Step 2: Once the oil is hot, add your sliced flank steak and cook for about two minutes per side until browned. Remove from pot and set aside.
Step 3: In the same pot, add garlic and sauté for about one minute until fragrant. Add beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, and cornstarch. Whisk together until fully combined.
Step 4: Add broccoli florets to the pot with the sauce and stir well.
Step 5: Place a trivet or steamer basket into the pot on top of the broccoli mixture. This will hold your cooked steak so it doesn't mix with or overcook in your sauce.
Step 6: Return your cooked flank steak back into this mixture on top of trivet/basket that you placed earlier in Step #5
Step #7 Close lid securely on Instant Pot making sure venting knob is pointing to "sealing", then press "manual" button (or "pressure cook") and set timer for four minutes using high pressure setting.When done cooking allow it time for pressure release naturally (about ten minutes).
Step 8: Once the Instant Pot has released pressure, carefully remove the trivet/basket with steak and set aside. Using the sauté function on your IP, thicken the sauce to your desired consistency.
Step 9: Serve hot over rice or noodles.
